Gwillim Lakes
Overview
This is a moderate one way trail in Valhalla Provincial Park.
This trail goes by Drinnon Lake and Gwillim Lakes.
Getting Started
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TRAILHEAD WITHOUT A 4X4 TRUCK!
The last km or so was so rutted that we struggled to get up the narrow gravel road. Having to pass other vehicles on this narrow road and maneuver the huge holes made it very difficult to drive up even with a 4x4 truck. Once you start there is no turning back. There is a small parking area before the last few kms of road where you should park and walk up to the trailhead .
Taking Children
Would not recommend taking children on this hike unless they hike regularly. There are a number of steep sections and it is long as a day trip. The campground is beautiful and could make for a steep/difficult overnight backpack trip with kids. We did see several kids 6 and up on the trail.
