Hiked this trail for the first time June 13th. It’s not difficult skill wise but it is very grueling. The entire northern part is a three mile gravel vehicle road that is connected to private property and pretty poorly marked as the low gap trail. We started at the low gap/rocky shelter trail head and went clock wise to get the gravel portion over with, which I recommend if you want to complete the low gap loop. However, if I were to do this again I would omit the entire northern section and just hike the southern section up through the back country. The hiking there is relatively difficult and the scenery and forest is beautiful. There is also a parking lot once gap rd which would be a good entry point.
