Overview

This is a moderate out and back trail to Wagner Glade Gap in Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The hike moves through thicker timbered forests with good shade and up into open meadows where wildflowers bloom in the early season. The start of the trek from the parking area is moderately steep and becomes flatter after the first switchback. You'll cross two or three streams, depending on the time of year that provide cool water for you and any pets. Taking this route up to Wagner Gap and then following the ridge line northwest along the Wagner Butte Trail #1011 will take you out to some excellent 360 degree views of the valley below, and ridge lines around you, including Mt. Ashland, Pilot Rock, Mt. McLoughlin, and others.

Getting Started

The parking lot at the Wagner Butte Trailhead along Forest Road 22 is large and generally shaded. It can hold upwards of 15 cars. The beginning of the trail is easy to find across Forest Road 22 from where you parked.
