Excellent beginners backpacking trip. I hiked up on a Saturday evening (started around 5:30 and was on top by 7:00) It was windy on top, so bring a little extra cold weather gear, even in the summer with a low of 65°F. The views are amazing and there are 5 great spots with views facing West to watch the sunset. No views east. Nice meadow at the summit for tents and two or three good spots for hammocks.

Good hike with decent views of the North Georgia mountains from the granite cliff face. Road leading to trailhead is pretty nasty - would recommend high clearance vehicles only unless your brother is a mechanic.
Several sections are highly eroded because of poor trail construction, so stay on the main trail and don’t exacerbate the erosion problems. There are a few side trails that come off the main trail with green blazes - follow the green blaze the whole way to the top until you see a slight opening on the granite face. This will lead you to access trails to the top of you aren’t planning to go all the way to Yonah bald.
I recommend the granite faces over the bald...not much to see up there.
