Stargazer Trail and Moonlight Trail
Overview
This is a easy out and back trail in San Tan Mountain Regional Park. It can also be completed as a loop by connecting to the San Tan trail. This is a great hike for beginners and to take visitors from out of town who want to experience the Sonoran Desert. The Visitors Center has some nice exhibits and habitats to check out. As with all low desert trails, you will be completely exposed with no shade. Take sun protection and plenty of water.
Getting Started
Fees are $7 per vehicle or $2 per person if you walk or bike in (As of February 2019). The parking does get pretty full on busy weekends, but I have never not been able to find a spot.
Taking Children
This is a great hike for kids. There are some spots where is cactus is right next to the trail. Be wary of little ones, especially around Cholla!
