There was still (Late May) a little snow on the final 100m of climbing to Col d’ Esset but angles here are gentle, there’s no exposure and not overlooked by hazardous slopes above.
The loop as very enjoyable, quickly leaving behind the busier grill area around the parking lots and getting into a quiet, unspoiled valley behind l’Argentine.
The trail is good and generally easy going. The final sections (clockwise) are muddy and may not be advisable after heavy rain.
