One of two direct ways up to Gray Knob. Lowes was cut by Charles Lowe and William Nowell in 1875. First half is generally moderate through nice forest, the second half, starting at the Log Cabin, is White Mountain Steep crossing many rockbands which can be wet. Calling this a moderate route is wrong, and the timing listed above is only for highly fit mountain runners who know the route and rock hopping sequences well. Typical time up is more in the neighborhood of 2.5-3 hours. Do not underestimate this hike. Stepping up onto the Quay makes it all worth it.
