Wachusett Mountain via Old Indian Trail and Balance Rock Road
Overview
This is a moderate out and back trail to Wachusett Mountain in Wachusett Mountain State Reservation.
This trail goes by Balance Rock, a glacial erratic.
Old Indian Trail crosses the ski slopes three times so a bypass up Semuhemma Trail to West Side Trail is required during ski season.
Getting Started
Parking is available in the ski area parking lot when it is not ski season. As you enter the parking lot, the trail head is on the right hand side about halfway down. This trail follows the Midstate Trail. During the winter month, you should park at the Bolton Pond Trailhead on Bolton Road.
Taking Children
The upper part of Old Indian Trail is difficult. This trail would not be recommended for children unless under careful adult supervision.
This is an alternate route for Wachusett Mountain Loop via Old Indian Trail and Semuhenna Trail.
