Overview
This ~4-mi round trip hike is an easy-to-moderately strenuous out and back hike to Pitchoff Mountain in Adirondack Park. There is a ~.3-mi out and back side trail to Balanced Rocks, which offers extensive views of the Cascade Lakes and High Peaks wilderness.
Getting Started
There are three small parking areas along Route 73 near the trailhead for Pitchoff Mountain, which is in North Elba, NY. The trailhead is on the opposite side of Route 73 from the Cascade and Porter Mountains trailhead.
With Leave No Trace principles in mind, follow the trail, Pitchoff Mountain Trail (blazed with red trail markers), and avoid the side trails.
