Overview
This is an easy out and back trail in Custer Gallatin National Forest.
The hike itself is paved, making this a wonderful option for older people, families with strollers, and even people in wheelchairs (except in winter, of course). And the reward at the end - Palisade Falls - is amazing.
Getting Started
The parking lot sometimes gets crowded, but because the hike is short, there is plenty of turnover.
Taking Children
A wonderful hike for kids, especially young ones, since the trail is paved and has only a minimal grade ascent. At the falls, there are all sorts of options to scramble around on the rocks and get close to the falls.
The falls are also a popular ice climbing location in the winter, and there are plenty of spots to sit and watch the action.
