Kipukapuaulu picnic area Loop via Kipuka Puaulu Trail
Overview
This is an easy loop trail around Kipukapuaulu (growing flower) in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The area is estimated to be about 8,000 years young and is one of the oldest sections of land located within the park. Due to the high volume of volcanic activity, much of the hiking trails are new.
This hike is frequented by plant and bird lovers alike searching for a rare encounter.

Getting Started
The trail his located about 2 miles off of Highway 11. Traveling west, turn right onto Mauna Loa Road.
