Something you have to do if you live in Phoenix. Hiking shoes are definitely recommended as there are only two spots where there is flat ground: the saddle and the top. Get there early for parking as even at 5:30am, Parking is about a mile away from the trail head. Bring plenty of water; I went through 2.5L during this hike and take breaks. One of the few trails where going down it is somehow nearly as hard as going up. A great view but please take this trail seriously.

This was a great hike, great for seasoned hikers and a good challenge for beginners. Took my wife and I around 3 hours in total round trip. The elevation gets to about 2,700 feet at the top and the air and view is beautiful! I would have easily given this a 5 star review but the only down side is the parking and the foot traffic. This is a busy trail, with that said there’s not too much wildlife or space to navigate at times. Other than that I definitely recommend this as a spot to check off your list.

Camelback Mountain-Cholla Trail (12/28/19, 10:23:21AM)
Dustin Schmidt and I met at 5191 N. Invergordon Rd. To hike. Afterwards we had lunch at a nice sidewalk cafe on Main Street in Old Town. Then we went over to Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row for a cold beer and to watch the LSU-vs-Oklahoma College football game. It was a great morning and other than a cold breeze the weather was perfect. 100’s of people we hiking this difficult mountain today.
