Getting Started
You will drive down E Salmon River Rd. and pass a trailhead that says Salmon River Trail. It's actually the Old Salmon River Trail. Keep going past Green Canyon Campground, and you'll arrive at a bridge which crosses the Salmon River. Park just before the bridge, and you'll see a kiosk at the trailhead. To get to the actual Trail #742, you must walk about 2 miles in on the precursor trail where you'll reach another kiosk which has a map of the area as well as a station to fill out a Wilderness Permit.
Taking Children
(9/10): Moderately difficult, but you can go in as far as you want. The majority of the trail is flat until you get to the end.
