Overview

This is a difficult loop trail to Devils Rest in Mount Hood National Forest. Highlights include waterfalls along Wahkeena and Multnomah creeks and spectacular views from Angels Rest.

Hiking counterclockwise the trail climbs and crosses Wahkeena Creek on a bridge at Wahkeena Falls. Follow the switchbacks up and a short diversion to Lemmons Viewpoint. Continuing up the trail passes Fairy Falls. After more switchbacks come to a well marked junction and head west (right) along the Angels Rest trail. Soon pass Wahkeena Spring. Continue hiking to Angels Rest with views up and down the Columbia River.

Backtrack on the Angels Rest trail to the Foxglove trail and continue to Devils Rest, which has no views. Head east along the Devils Rest trail, contouring the Wahkeena Creek drainage and then drop to a junction with the Wahkeena trail. From this junction, to shortcut the loop hike down the Vista Ridge trail back to Fairy Falls or turn left (west) back to the Angels Rest / Wahkeena junction and down to complete a lollypop loop. For the full loop hike turn right (east) to the Larch Mountain trail.

Once at the Larch Mountain trail turn left (north) and pass Ecola Falls, Wiesendanger Falls, Dutchman Falls, Multnomah Falls and Lower Multnomah Falls.

Return to the Wahkeena trailhead along the Historic Columbia River highway and Trail 442.
