Scarce O Fat and Lake Trail Loop
Overview
This is a long loop hike that combines two of the most popular hikes in the Yellowwood State Forest. The Scarce O Fat Trail is the eastern portion of the hike. You will go to the top of a ridge, come back down into a stream valley and then climb one final ridge to High King Hill. In the winter there is a view from this overlook.
The second and more popular portion of the loop is the Lake Trail. This trail goes around Yellowwood lake and is around 4.5 miles on its own. There are several stream crossings where you may get wet. The northern part of the holds a nature trail with a nice stand of white pine trees. This a great hike.
