This is a easy loop trail to East Rock in East Rock Park.
This trail goes by Indian Head and Whitney Peak.

The hike is mostly a C, but if you do the "stairs" from the east side, it becomes a C. There are access roads allowing a hiker to take it easy if they tire. The view of New Haven and it's harbor from just below the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is the best there is from land. The trails are well maintained and clearly marked. The trail along the Mill River has a connecting bridge to the Eli Whitney Museum. If you have children along this makes for a great stop as it is an experimental learning workshop. Eli Whitney is best know for his inventing of the Cotton Gin which was a key component of the Industrial Revolution.
