Hamilton Mountain
Overview
This is a difficult one way trail to Hamilton Mountain in Beacon Rock State Park.
This trail goes by Upper Rodney Falls, Rodney Falls, Pool of the Winds, Hardy Falls, and Little Hamilton Mountain.
The trail starts off fairly tame, until you hit the waterfall. From there it is almost exclusively an uphill climb. It is pretty consistently muddy / slippery, so be weary of gym shoes on this trail. There are quite a few 'choose your own adventure' routes along this trail that allow you to get away from the crowds. The views of the gorge are beautiful.
Getting Started
Parking at this trailhead is one of the worst. The lot is very small (~20 cars) and it fills up fast, even on week days. If you plan to do this hike, I would recommend going early. Once you arrive at the lot, you've arrived at the trailhead.
Taking Children
Taking children past the falls would be difficult due to steep terrain and steep dropoffs.
