Indian Seats
Overview
This is a easy out and back trail to Indian Seats in Sawnee Mountain Preserve.
This trail goes by Indian Seats observation deck.
The trail: Mostly Georgia clay, in some segments you will be walking on many medium sized rocks, prepare with proper hiking boots. There are some areas that have a slight drop-off or medium-steep inclines that parallel the trail, caution should be used on those areas when bringing children. The trail is properly marked with maps stationed throughout along with trail markers and arrows directing you. The top is worth it, with a spectacular view of the mountain of North Georgia.
Getting Started
Parking: The best place to park is at the Sawnee Mountain Visitor Center, (4075 Spot Rd, Cumming, GA 30040) as there are bathrooms and the trailhead is behind the visitor center. The trail opens at sunrise.
Trailhead: Located behind the visitor center, it starts with an asphalt trail that turns into the dirt.
Taking Children
Toddlers were present on the trail, exercise caution as some areas that have a slight drop-off or medium-steep inclines that parallel the trail.
