Purisima Creek Redwoods OSP is one of the best places to hike in the SF Bay Area, especially when the weather is warm, as the giant redwoods provide ample shade and the ocean's light breeze cools the area even further.
We began our hike at the Purisima Creek Redwoods OSP's (free) south parking lot. A parking lot that is nestled among the trees and provides parking for only a few cars. We began our descent on the Redwood trail and the Purisima Creek trail to the Craig Britton trail junction. We continued on the Craig Britton Trail, which this time was overgrown with weeds and other vegetation, and where I picked my only tic for this day. We turned left on the Harkins Ridge Trail to reach the lowest point of the park, where we found a shaded area for our snacks break and for visiting the brand new bathrooms (a great improvement over the previous facility). We then took the Purisima Creek Trail all the way back up returning to the parking area on the Redwood Trail.
Word of caution: Make sure there is nothing in your vehicle observable through the windows, as vehicle break-ins have occurred in this small parking lot.
