Big Sky Trail Loop
Overview
This is an easy loop trail in a residential neighborhood of Simi Valley, California.
Getting Started
This hike starts at t he corner of Erringer Road and Falcon Street. There is a parking lot on the northbound side just south of Falcon but it is often locked. Therefore parking on Falcon street in front of Falcon Park is probably the best option (but check parking regulation signs).
Starting at the sidewalk the trail goes down into a residential neighborhood and onto a ridge on the east side of the neighborhood. The north part of the loop has good view of a lot of Simi, there is very little vegetation on the trail. There are views of of some very nice homes. The loop south is the through the neighborhood which is through trees and other vegetation. The trail crosses several streets.
Simi Valley's park and recreation web site doesn't directly state a dogs on trails policy but the following brochure has their contact information and does seem to imply dogs on a leash are okay on trails: http://cms4.revize.com/revize/ranchosimi/Parks%20and%20Facilities/RsrpdDistrictMap.pdf
Taking Children
It's good as an exercise get outside trail. Nothing special, you can go either way and turn around at any point. You can enter from either side of the loop. You are crossing several streets, but there are signs on where to cross and cross walks. You may have to cross Erringer to get to the hike, but there is a traffic light.
