Soda Mountain
Overview
This is a easy out-and-back trail to Soda Mountain in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Follow the PCT south under the powerlines then enter the trees. The trail crosses an open rocky meadow area where wildflowers bloom in May and June. At the far end you'll get a view of Mt. Ashland. The trail heads back into the trees. At an unsigned junction a connector trail heads uphill on the right. Follow this until it meets up with Soda Mountain Road, then turn right and follow the road to the summit of Soda Mountain. A fire lookout (no longer staffed) sits here surrounded by a large number of towers and communications equipment. The view south includes Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock. Wildflowers bloom on the summit in May and June.
