Gore Lake via Gore Creek Trail
Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail to Gore Lake in White River National Forest. If you are fit, this is not a 'difficult' hike. It is very beautiful all along the trail, the entire way. The lake, rocky crags and views are gorgeous. There are beautiful meadows as well. The trail also passes the graves of two Swedish brothers who had a cabin near by. They both died in the early 1900s. They had made money in silver mining, then squandered it and became trappers.
Getting Started
On busy weekends get to the trail head early in order to park. Even midweek in summer, the parking can fill up early. It is shared with cyclists who start their ride up to Vail Pass from here.
Taking Children
Older kids who can mentally put in the miles can do this hike. There really aren't any real exposed sections, the trail is wide and safe. There are a few short rocky sections.
