Overview
This is an easy out and back trail in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park frequented by visitors who want to experience the feeling of hiking upon land younger than them.
The turn around is Ka Lae Apuki point where fishermen planted a grove of coconut trees to be used as a land marker while fishing.
Getting Started
This hike begins at the end of Chain of Craters Road, a 45 minute drive from the visitor center of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (last stop for water fill up).
