Overview
This is a moderate loop trail to Mount Kit Carson in Mount Spokane State Park.
This trail goes by Beauty Mountain.
Getting Started
Park at the hairpin parking lot in Mt Spokane state park. Cross the street and you'll see the trail heading north.
Taking Children
This trail isn't dangerous and the terrain is mellow. If your child can handle eight miles and 1,400 feet of elevation, this would be a great one.

Nice hike. Recent rains brought out a bunch of mushrooms and we even found some blueberries (or huckleberries, I'm not sure). Only saw one other couple on the trail on a Sunday. Very quiet. Nice little peak with views on top of kit Carson. Otherwise the trail is mostly in deep woods. The uphill section (going counter-clockwise) is on a great wide trail that is consistently graded up to the peak. The downhill side felt steeper and there was more ups and downs.

I hiked this trail with snow shoes. It took about four hours. The only other people we saw the entire time were at the warming hut. Even with partial cloud cover, the view at the top was great. This was my first time in the Mt Spokane area. The network of trails can be confusing. The trails are well marked with signs, but they often don't match what's on the map. Without a GPS device (using Gaia specifically) this would have been very frustrating.
