West Tiger #3 Loop via Cable Line Trail and West Tiger 3 trail
Overview
This trail is best done beginning with Cableline, and coming down West Tiger 3. A quick, direct, but steep and slick path to the summit; Cableline gains over 2000 feet in 1.5 miles. Coming down WT3 is a good way to spare your knees, as you descend the same elevation over a moderate grade spanning 3 miles. On Sunday mornings you may pass a large group of people sitting in the woods laughing and sharing stories; there is a weekly AA/Al-Alon meeting that meets near the WT3 summit at 10am. This hike will certainly get your heart rate up and makes for a great after work conditioner for those who live nearby.
Getting Started
From I90E: Take exit 20 and then turn right onto the frontage road paralleling the interstate. In just under 0.5 mile the road ends at a gate. The gate opens daily, though it is closed and locked at 7:00 PM. The Cable Line Trailhead is to your left, a couple hundred feet before reaching the gate.
Taking Children
This is a tough hike for young children, and the views are not worth the struggle. A better hike would be Poo Poo point (still very steep but fun to watch paragliders on sunny days!)
