Another beautiful summer day in Central Washington. This is a stunning hike. Highly recommended. There is a nice sturdy bridge over the Cle Elum River at the beginning of the hike and Birdseye views of the river feeding into Lake Cle Elum as you climb. We saw bear prints. Lots and lots of switchbacks. We missed the turnoff for the summit and ended up doing a short scramble to a false summit before we realized our mistake. One must go beyond the summit to reach even more spectacular views. This part of the trail is sketchy in areas. There is a cool rock shelter around the former lookout site.
