Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail to Elk Cove Camp in Mount Hood National Forest. This trail goes by Elk Cove and Wy'East Basin.
At the beginning of this trail, you'll climb through the remains of a forest fire, so don't expect much shade. Once you get further up the mountain, you'll hit the forest and hike near treeline. At this point you'll take a left to head towards Elk Cove, and cross a few ridges before getting there. Elk Cove is a beautiful little area with amazing views of Mt. Hood directly above you.
This is a great hike to do as an out and back backpacking trip for 1-2 nights.
Getting Started
The trailhead here is pretty sparse, with only room for 5-10 cars and no amenities.
