Council Crest via Marquam Trail
Overview
This is a moderate and beautiful trail from Council Crest Park down to OHSU. You'll pass behind homes in the adjacent neighborhood but plenty of forest separates you from those yards. This is one leg of the 4T's loop where you train, trolley, tram and trail from Downtown, up to the ZOO, over to Council Crest, Down to OHSU and back Downtown
This trail goes by "Peggy" Locomotive, Portland Children's Museum, and Council Crest.
Great Portland area hike, even in the winter time!
It is a peaceful park with lots of trees (Giant Maple, Tall Cedars), ferns and streams. Over 70 acres with cleared, easy to tread trails.
Hikes can range from easy to medium to the tougher elevation gain to Council Crest. Two weeks after knee surgery and it was a very good "recovery" hike.
Spectacular views of the Portland area when you top out at 1073'.
Getting Started
Plenty of parking at the CC Park so it's a good place to start and end if you need to drive. This can be done as a back and forth, out and back, in and out hike. However, if you are doing the tram I believe it is only free going down.
Taking Children
This is moderate and ok for anyone reasonably ambulatory.
