Panorama Ridge Loop via Garibaldi Lake Trail
Overview
This is a long moderate difficulty loop trail to Panorama Ridge in Garibaldi Provincial Park.
Ascend the switchbacks from the parking lot on the easily graded wide trail. At the trail fork follow the trail markers to the left to Taylor Meadows The forest soon gives way to lush alpine meadow as you climb; soon Black tusk will appear to your left. Pass between small alpine lakes and make a final push to the summit of the ridge. This is a popular trail so you will likely encounter other hikers, note the ridge extends north if you want to rest and eat a sandwich away from the crowds.
Descending from the ridge you can choose to either retrace your steps, or preferably detour down to Garibaldi lake. If you choose to go to the lake keep an eye out for the descent trail turn off as it can be easy to miss. Down to the lake is a series of sharp switch backs to reach a small bridge that crosses the outflow of Garibaldi lake. A short detour across this bridge and up the side of the outflow takes you up to the campground, pit toilets and main shore of the lake.
Returning from the lake follow the main Garibaldi Lake trail that follows the outflow of the river.
