Blumenthal Falls via Oregon Coast Trail(edit)

Overview

Oswald West is a spectacular Oregon State Park frequented by surfers, hikers and day trippers enjoying Short Sand Beach. This route is a section of the Oregon Coast Trail, which unfortunately has few views of the ocean, except at Short Sand Beach and Neahkahnie Mtn, with sweeping views of Nehalem Bay.

This trail goes by Blumenthal Falls.

Getting Started

The trailhead is east of Highway 101 and north of the tunnel at Arch Cape. From Highway 101 turn east on East Beach Road and left on East Shingle Mill Lane. Before East Shingle Mill Lane curves, the trailhead is marked by a small sign on a post. Park on the side of East Shingle Mill Lane. The trail starts up a gravel road which also leads to one home before a footbridge.

Taking Children

It is a rather long hike for children. Better to park at Oswald West and take the trail to Short Sand Beach.
