Meadowlark Trail Loop
Overview
This is a great loop to run, hike, or ride. Certain sections can be very busy (Marshall Mesa) while other sections are always quiet (High Plains). Be sure to check trail conditions before going out- sections of this loop are often closed after rain or snow melt due to muddy conditions. See https://www.bouldercounty.org/open-space/parks-and-trails/trail-conditions/
There are good views of the Flatirons to the west, and in the western section along the Flatirons Vista trail there are nice views down into Boulder valley.
Getting Started
There are many places to park and start along this loop. Clockwise from the east side: 1) in Superior off 3rd Ave where the Coal Creek Trail intersects Meadowlark (plenty of street parking and quiet), 2) at the intersection of McCaslin and Coalton at the Coalton trailhead (busy area), 3) off CO 128 at the High Plains trailhead (very quiet), 4) at the intersection of CO 218 and CO 93 at the Greenbelt Trailhead (usually quiet), 5) at the Dowdy Draw trailhead of CO 93 (busy at peak times and weekends), 6) at the Marshall Mesa trailhead off CO 170 (very busy, parking often full), 7) on 66th where Cowdrey Draw<>Mayhoffer SIngeltree trail crosses (quiet, but limited parking).
Taking Children
Sections of this loop are great for hiking with kids (eg Marshall Mesa) but be aware of fast mountain bikers in places and on weekends.
