Overview
This is a moderate loop trail that goes by Calero 72-003 Dam and
Calero Reservoir in Calero County Park. Most of the trail goes through open hills although there are more trees on the reservoir side of the loop. There's some elevation gain on the hike but nothing major and hardly any sections approaching "steep".
This hike can be extended (by ~1.8 miles) by also including the North Ridge Trail loop. Also refer to the Calero County Park Map.
Getting Started
The parking lot is gated and posted to be open by 8:00 am and closed at sunset. There's a lot of parking spaces and a bathroom at the entrance. There is no entrance fee at this location.
Taking Children
This hike is fine for children as long as they're up for the mileage.
