Overview
This is an out and back hike. The milage is closer to 9 miles, but you are rewarded at the end of the trail with a beautiful vista of Lake Monroe. The trail is very popular with backpackers especially on weekends throughout the spring, summer and fall. You also may encounter horses along the trail. The trail is muddy in some spots and switches between single and double track.
Getting Started
You can park at the Grubb Ridge Trailhead, but note you must park in the parking areas. Parking along the road is not allowed.
Taking Children
While the trail is relatively easy as far as elevation, it is very long if you plan to go all the way to the end. Therefore, it's not very good for small and young children.
