Skull Rock Loop
Overview
This is an easy loop trail in Joshua Tree National Park.
This is a very fun scenic nature trail, and it offers wonderful views of the boulders and desert landscape around Jumbo Rocks Campground. There are many informational signs along the route that are fun and educational. The trail is not strenuous, but you will need to pay close attention to stay on it, due to numerous side paths from campers veering off to explore the desert.
The highlights of this hike are Skull Rock and Elephant Rock, but the entire route is enjoyable.
Getting Started
This hike is within Joshua Tree National Park, which requires an entry fee or a National Park pass.
Unless you have a reserved campsite, parking is restricted within Jumbo Rocks. There are parking spaces available outside the campground near Skull Rock.
Taking Children
This hike is doable with children or pets on leash. Care is needed to make sure they stay away from cacti or other hazards.
