Mary’s Peak East Ridge trail hike
It was one of those foggy days in the valley, so time to head up the hill. Fog line at 1500 feet as usual in the Mary’s Peak road. Started our hike from Conners Camp. Encountered the first snow at around 3500 feet, there were a number of slippery areas to negotiate. Views from the top were better than I think I have ever seen. Could clearly see all the way up to Mount Rainier in the north. A wide expanse of ocean out to the west could be seen, further out than I can recall. You could almost see the ski runs on Mount Bachelor. Wish we had taken the binoculars. Lots of people out and about today. About two inches of snow on the ground in top. Temperature up there in the mid 40s, only about ten degrees warmer than the thirties in the valley, so not a real sharp inversion.
