Located on the eastern side of Mount Hunger the middlesex trail is a difficult out and back trail that features wild flowers, wild life, many birds, and beautiful views. From the trail head the hike starts off with a small incline, getting steeper as elevation is gained. By the top the trail requires some rock scrambles. Mount Hunger, while it does not boast as much elevation as other nearby mountains does have an exposed summit making for beautiful panoramic views of Whiteface Mountain (VT), Madonna Peak, Sterling Peak, Mount Mansfield, Smugglers Notch, Nebraska Notch, Mount Mayo, Bolton Mountain & Camels Hump to the west. On clear days Mount Washington can be seen to the east, as well as many other northern Vermont peaks and ski areas.
