Johnston Ridge to Harry's Ridge (Mt. St. Helens)
My partner had never seen Mt. St. Helens in all the years he's live in Portland and our first trip to it was a bust due to low clouds - you couldn't see the mountain. So I did some research and found this trail and we waited for the clearest day to take a hike where we could really get familiar with the surroundings.I doubt there's a better route for people looking for perspective on the eruption event. From this trail you'll see the crater and all the damage done to the immediate area including Spirit Lake where stubborn Harry R. Truman died in the blast. Take some time at the observatory before the hike and you'll have a day you won't soon forget.
