Overview

This is a easy out and back trail to Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

This trail goes by Daughters of the American Revolution Grove and Krause Grove North.

This trail does walk to the Smith River, we saw fly fishermen.

Getting Started

The south end of this trail starts on Howland Hill Road. This a scenic drive through this park. We started on that end. Then drove to the trail head, hiked, then exited the park. That road, that drive, is maybe 30 minutes and well worth it. If you start at that end, a few blocks away, on the corner of Howland Hill Road and Elk Valley Road is a corner market. With a yummy hot deli sandwich case.

Taking Children

Children will love this.

This is a great loop of old growth redwoods. A tree called Stout Giant is along the trail and is awesome example of a giant tree that is over 2000 years old or more.
