Overview
This is a difficult out and back trail in Virginia. This is a great and difficult trail any time of the year, due to the topography, Hiking the hills in Summer can be extremely HOT, Spring is wet and slippery, Fall is beautiful, and Winter is treacherous if there is snow or ice. This trail is well traveled by locals on nice days, so be prepared for others on the trail. Be aware the terrain is extremely rocky and uneven. Thick soled hiking shoes/boots are a must for this trail.
Getting Started
Parking is limited right by the trail head, but there is additional parking about 100 yards Eastbound on Route 7. The alternate parking lot is on the other side of route 7, so be prepared for a somewhat treacherous dash across the busy highway.
Taking Children
Children will love the rocks and scrambles along the way. However, the terrain and climbs can be taxing on younger children, especially those who are less experienced hikers.
