Mill Creek Loop Trail(edit)

Overview

This is a difficult loop trail in French Creek State Park.

This trail goes by Chestnut Hill and Millers Point.

From French Creek's Website: "Once leaving the trailhead at Shed Road and PA 345, you will not cross another road on this backcountry-type loop trail. Be sure to carry water and wear proper clothing and footwear. Consider using Raccoon and Lenape trails to add some variety for your return trip."

Getting Started

The trailhead and parking area is on Shed Road where it intersects with PA 345.

Directions:
From North on PA 345: Turn left onto Shed Road just before the entrance to French Creek State Park. The parking area will be immediately on your left.
From South on PA 345: After passing the entrance to Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site and travel up the hill. Shortly after passing the entrance to French Creek State Park, turn right on Shed road. The parking area will be immediately on your left.
From PA 724: Turn onto Shed Road (The intersection of PA 724 and Shed Road had a triangular median). In approximately 1000 ft., turn left to stay on Shed Road. At the stop sign (3-way intersection), bear right. At the top of the hill, the parking area will be on your right. If you dead end into PA 345, you passed the parking area.

Taking Children

Due to the backcountry nature of this trail, only children that have an established appreciation for the outdoors would be suitable for this trip. It is not advisable to allow young children to complete this trail alone. This trail also contains substantial elevation gain for young children.
