Overview
This is a moderate to difficult out and back trail in Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest not far from downtown Reno. The scenery is amazing. You start out in grasslands and end up in forest canopy. Depending on the time of year the waterfall at the end can be raging or just a trickle. Spring flowers and fall leaves are outstanding and these are the best times of year to do the hike.
Getting Started
There is a developed trailhead for this area. Parking is limited and this hike is popular on the weekends so get there early. The first 2/3 of the hike is exposed during the summer which can make for a hot hike. Plan for early departures or an evening hike during the hot months and make sure to bring plenty of water.
