    Gate locked on Barney Riley near Markleeville and the entrance shown here is closed due to snow. Locals have said that the gate in Markleeville has been locked for at least 3 years now, and the private property owner has wielded guns at people trying to cross.

    just did it with my F150 on 35s, The descending part was difficult.  Took it low and slow and I made the trip from start to finish in apx. 2 hours with many gnarly close calls. Im not experienced but I had an experienced spotter and that helped. A guy in a rav4 awd came down it the next day and completely destroyed his brand new car. He just slid down all the rocks in a panic i think.
