This out and back hike is a moderately strenuous single track hike with steeper sections and less steep sections providing opportunity for recovery. Views along the trail vary from nice to spectacular and become increasingly spectacular with increasing elevation. The hike starts out in sage/pinion/juniper/mountain mahogany transitioning into open sage scrub and then up into pine forest with patches of aspen. Rocks transition from layered metasedimentary rocks lower on the slopes to granite boulders higher up. The Reversed Peak "area" is a jumble granite boulders requiring some hands on scrambling before reaching a tin can register at the top where an amazing 360 degree panorama awaits.
