If looking at my gps data Do not take the last part of this hike I turned off too soon. You have to stay on the trail longer before heading down to the Sam knob parking lot. It was a spectacular hike. The first part of the hike is easy on the investor gap jeep trail. The second half of the hike is much more difficult. Do not overestimate your distance based on the ease of the first part of the hike. Rhododendrum,mountain laurel,flaming azaleas, and incredible views both sides. Pack a snack,sun screen(open to sun mostly hike )and take plenty of water.
