Moderate steady uphill through nice forests and over pretty creeks for 4.5 miles and 2300 feet, then down 1.5 miles 750 feet to the camps at the far end of the lake. The trail guides call it 5.5 miles but it appears to be a little over 6. Solo with my little dog Mazzy. We have the entire place to ourselves. Saw two people before the Granite Mountain cut off and not a soul since. Started at 6:45om and pushed about as fast as I could manage for being out of shape to make it to camp before dark, and we made it!
