This is an incredible hike!! Challenging but very rewarding with breathtaking views. Take at least 2L of water. The trail to Vernal Falls is steep and when the water is flowing hard, the trail is covered in mist and spray (you’ll get wet). The final climb to the top of the falls is very steep and narrow. The trail to Nevada Falls is a steady climb. The final 1 mile is very steep, so just take your time. The return route via the John Muir Trail offers magnificent views of Nevada Falls and Half Dome. When you get to a fork in the trail, the right trail (1.9 miles) leads back to the top of Vernal Falls and the left trail (2.3 miles) joins the Mist Trail below Vernal Falls.
