Rob: Snoquera Falls
This was more like 5.5 miles long, bit once again the ET GPS screwed up (shocker), and drew a few straight lines between waypoints (see map).
Awesome small hike up to one of the coolest waterfalls around. The wind always swirls at the top, which pushes the falls away from the cliff - giving it the "floating Pandora mountain" look. The small scramble up to the base of the falls is awesome. Avoid the boot path, and go straight up the boulders. You acn literally touch the base, if you don't mind getting soaked. Would be great on a hot day.
We took an off-trail side trip up a crevasse, which turned out to be a mistake. We don't often put ourselves in danger situations, but the scree field (past the boulders) was SO unstable, that we were causing mini avalanches with every step. We nearly made it to the top, but ultimately decoded it was smart to turn around. Took us about 45 min to (carefully) work our way down.
Do the loop. Most people just go back down the same way, but uou'd be missing the awesome stream on the loop. We always stop here for lunch before heading back to the car (about 5 min from here).
Climb up next to the stream for a bot, and find a spot near one of the stellar little falls. Beautiful spot.
