1: elkhart park (pole creek) to seneca lake
First 4.5km in around an hour; good pace, nice dirt trail
Many downed trees from big blowdown & mountain pine beetle
Took many pictures, had intermittent cell service: lost a bunch of time in this way
No water sources until after photographer’s point
Took break at Photographers Point: ate Obo’s pepper jerky (pastrami-like) from Hangry Neil’s company; ate homemade Lara bars as well
Continued past Photographer’s point quite tired (packs very heavy)
Got burst of adrenaline from waterfall crossing–crossed upstream from intended crossing due to boulders being submerged
Crossed Barbara, Hobbs lake, and other unnamed lake
Reached Seneca lake and set up camp at the right of it
Hung up backpacks on dead tree 50m to the right of campsite, set up cooking station at the base of the tree
Exhausted, listened to a couple of podcasts (Wimbledon & Nuggets)
Went down the trail at the left to the lakeside, filled water, washed with peppermint Dr Bronners soap
Ate two packets of tuna with Frank’s hot sauce
Tata had two Madras lentils TastyBites
Had fitful sleep, awoke every couple of hours, headache and altitude sickness
Took Advil + peed at 2am by the moonlight reflecting off of the lake, calmed headache, felt better at 5:30 when awoke
Made drinks etc and set off at 7:45
