This was a horse ride. We were able to follow the trails because of Kim McCarrel Central Oregon book and the white diamonds she put on the trees. The footing was very rocky in places.

I’m new to this over landing business. This was my first trip. Pretty beginner friendly. I was looking for something

The easiest way to start this loop is from Dry Creek Horse Camp. On the West side of the Camp where the wire fencing is there is a opening and ribbons. It is a new trail so you have to look for ribbons

It’s the end of June and we got to see sun, sleet, hail, snow, sun again, hail again, so much rain, yet, it must be a special trail because it was stunning and and beautiful. Imagine what it could be if we could see more of the views. Lucien and Mike kept me going.

Nice hike through ponderosa pine and good views of the valley around Steens Pillar.

Great hike! Lovely mix of forest and sage meadow. Ideal to hike this area in early summer to enjoy the wild flowers. On a clear day you can see all the mountains, from Tealson to even Mt. Adams in WA.

This would be a great hike on a nice, sunny day. Today was not that day. It was hailing at the trailhead when I arrived, then drizzled in and off for a bit. As I got closer to Round Mtn the trail got muddier and muddier and more difficult to climb. But I made it, took some pics and headed back down. But then, the sun came out and the wind picked so the trail started drying out and the hike back to the car was actually really nice.

This is a fun little ride. For it has a view of the Brennan Palisades and the the rest of the ride is along Dry Creek which is still flowing.
It does dry up as summer gets hotter and just has a few spring pools here and there the rest of the year.
