Good snowshoe route through Sequoia Grove. One big uphill and one big downhill!

“Easy” is a relative term. This trail starts at 6400ft elevation and is over a mile uphill with very little cover from the sun. If you’re coming from your couch at sea level straight to the trailhead it’s going to be a rough time.
It also seems like it’d be rough to get to without 4wd but people do it.

North Border Trail does not get used to much. Over grown in a lot of places. Wear pants, not shorts. Bring plenty of water, very dry and about 60% exposed. Lot to climb but not difficult. Great views.

This a beautiful area to hike. Right now (15 July 2022) there is a lot of construction cleaning up pathways and fire damage so some of the area is closed. I mention this only to say, it’s still worth the drive and the quick stop. Bring a picnic lunch there are beautiful tables to sit at. Currently though you’ll only be able to walk about 50% of the paths.

Great hike - on my annual rotation of hikes in the area. A dry year; creeks normally flowing were dry. Lake was full, water was warm, one member of the group went swimming with his Go Pro. Weather was perfect - hiked in shorts. The trail is well maintained and well signed. The views at the lake are stunning - first timers loved it!!...and dog friendly!!!

Beautiful, pretty easy hike. Plenty of shade and crossing 2-3 creeks gives four-legged hikers plenty of water on the way :)
Depending on your altitude adjustment I’d rate the trail between easy and moderate :)

Nice hike with some good views, sequoias, streams for water and quite a bit of shade. Saw very few hikers on the trail and had Summit Lake to ourselves.
Good training hike with a variety of incline.

Great trail! Did it in stock Jeep jku rubicon. Has plenty of side routes for more hard core stuff. Definitely an intermediate trail. It’s calm most of the time and sprinkled with quite a few spots where I went 4 low and crawled through. Never needed lockers. Lots of great rocks and places to explore and picnic. Plenty of shade.

Lovely little hike if you start at Fox Meadows parking. Mostly shaded. Three stream crossings. Ascend on the way out, rest and swim at the lake, then descend back down. Lots of little kids on this hike and a few dogs swimming at Weaver.

First time doing this hike or going to this area. The hike is short, but has a few uphill climbs that can be a tad exhausting. My kids 11 and 7 loved it. If you time the hike just right, you might catch a glimpse of the fighter jets doing a fly by.

This a great hike for a day hike to a beautiful lake. It is especially good for young kids - our boys our 7 and 12 and can make this hike

Lovely hike thru Mountain Home State Forest Sequoia Grove. Crossed North/Middle Tule River several times on the way up to beautiful Summit Lake. Several of us did slip on rocks crossing and got feet wet. Total gain up to lake was 3100’ and 7.6 miles. Additional 350’ gain on return with RT of 15.1 miles.

Lockwood Grove is now a remote sequoia grove. At one time you could drive to this grove. The Rough fire of 2015 changed this. The road has been closed going on 4 years now. I don’t see any progress going towards reopening this road. The forest service has a way of condemning roads after a fire. This is now a hike climbing over fallen trees. Ducking under trees. Climbing along fallen trees. Though this Grove is still worth seeing a portion was destroyed by the Rough fire. Enjoy but remember you’ll need to be agile to get here.
